Meet the Team
Dr. Diandra A. Baquero Ortiz, MS, Psy.D.
About Me
Hello! My name is Diandra Baquero. I am a bilingual therapist. I come from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, where I completed my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Albizu University and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy D.) at Ponce Health Sciences University. I have experience working with diverse populations in different settings such as: medical settings focused on health and primary care, rehabilitation/correction facilities, psychiatric hospitals working with diverse diagnoses including: depression, anxiety, adjustment process, problematic substance use, among other diagnoses. My approach as a mental health specialist is to provide a supportive space, where my patient feels safe and without judgment. In my free time I like to be in contact with nature, go for walks, try new places to eat, arts and crafts, spend time with my pets and enjoy the company of my family and friends.
Counseling Style
I believe that every person is different, therefore my method of providing therapy depends on the person and their situation. It is important to me that my client feels comfortable and included during their healing process. My approach is a collaborative style between the client and the therapist, keeping mutual respect, authenticity and honesty. My goal in therapy is that the patient feels free to talk about their process and work together to find solutions, and provide possible tools to improve their quality of life. I also work with their empowerment and help clients recognize their values as a human being. During the therapeutic sessions I try to be as genuine and honest as possible, since it is important for me to have the trust and openness of my client in order to establish a healthy client- therapist relationship.
